The MHR line runs from MHR0307SA at 7.6 mm to MHR0844SA at 46 mm, all on an alumina plate with a thin blue coat and a SIP lead frame. HVC cuts the flat resistor plate on a CNC to the printed length and height and forms the lead to the same pitch, so every size in the catalogue has a 1:1 replacement.

6 of the 22 sizes sit on a standard HVC outline; the remaining 16 are cut to the Murata drawing. Model codes follow the HVC flat rule HVRGHP{height}.{length}, in millimetres. Murata figures are the catalogue values; HVC ratings are continuous values in air.
The MHR line is a compact SIP part, and its envelope reflects that. Set against the other thick film families a designer will shortlist for the same socket, it is the smallest on every axis.

Murata figures from the MHR series datasheet R02E (TCR limit ±250 ppm/°C, Table 1). HVC figures from the HVRGHP catalogue. Ohmite figures from the Slim-Mox, Slim-Mox HT and Ultra-Mox datasheets. EBG figures from the Miba EBG flat high voltage resistor range, which states up to 35 kV in air and ±80 ppm/°C.
Three consequences follow, and they are the reason a designer arrives at this page. The MHR line stops at 2.5 W, so any divider that dissipates more has to leave the SIP footprint. It stops at 20 kV single use, so anything above that either needs the part potted or needs a different body. And at ±250 ppm/°C it is the loosest temperature coefficient in the table against a 15 ppm/°C floor, which is the figure that decides whether a divider holds its ratio in a warm cabinet.
The MHR body is a resistor element printed on a 96 % alumina substrate, coated and fitted with a SIP lead frame. HVC builds the same construction: ruthenium oxide on alumina, laser trimmed, then CNC cut to the substrate length and height on the Murata drawing. The lead frame is formed to the printed pitch, so the part seats where the original seated and no PCB change is needed.
Because the cut is a machining step rather than a new tooling step, sizes that Murata builds in low volume, and resistance values outside the nine catalogue steps, are available without a tooling charge. That is the usual reason a buyer arrives with an MHR number rather than an order history.
Every MHR size carries two figures: single use and molded use. The gap between them is the potting, not the resistor - the same substrate carries the same element. If a substitute is quoted at the molded figure without the molding, it is not the same part. State the medium (air, oil, SF6) and the duty in the enquiry.
The 5 mm and 6.5 mm substrates cover the office-machine, air purifier and static-elimination volume; the 9 mm and 10 mm substrates carry the higher wattage divider work. The power ceiling of the line is MHR0844SA at 2.5 W and 20 kV single use, so anything above that moves to the HVC GHP or PFS families rather than to a cut MHR outline.
Yes. The MHR body is a thick film plate on an alumina substrate, and HVC cuts the plate on a CNC to the printed length and height, so all 22 substrate sizes in the Murata catalogue can be supplied 1:1. Six of them already sit on standard HVC outlines; the other sixteen are cut to the drawing.
No. Body length, body height and lead pitch are held to the Murata drawing, and the lead is formed to the same pitch, so the part drops into the existing footprint.
Yes. The coating colour and the coating type are specified in the RFQ. Murata uses a thin blue silicone coat on the MHR line, and HVC can match it.
Murata quotes two figures because the molded version is potted. The substrate and the resistor element are the same. HVC quotes a continuous working voltage in air and reviews an oil, SF6 or potted assembly separately, so state the medium and the duty.
